On Saturday I went with Paul and Eric and my zero belongings to the Unviersity Avenue Street fair. They close off the Ave for about four blocks for the thing and it was great weather. When we first got there I was actually looking at a few booths and then Eric said, "It's amazing how different these street fairs are, city to city - all the different kinds of vendors and people." I burst out laughing because of course they are all the same. Hemp jewelry, t-shirts, skirts from India, silver rings, etc...Shortly thereafter our visit degenerated into us simply looking for people for Eric to take a picture of and believe me, there was no shortage. Warm weather + street fair = the worlds most bizarre people = perfect. Enjoy the following shots of our fellow street fair participants courtesy of Eric's quick camera work:
We couldn't decide if this guy was selling stuff or if he was a band and these were his instruments. Maybe both.
She's got a point.
Yes, that is a man and yes, he has male pattern baldness.
The weird part is that they weren't THAT bad but still very disturbing. Note the two nice girls in the booth next to them trying to sell leather belts and asking WHY they got stuck next to these people.
This is the chrome bass of Slimpickins, a band I actually REALLY liked and would go see perform sometime. Then I look up their web site and see that they actually play regularly at Pies 'n' Pints, my friend's pub in Roosevelt (which is great, by the way). Thanks a lot Randal! Why didn't you tell me before!?!
Perfect.

You were right. These pictures are hilarious! You should have tried to buy something from that old man. I'm sure that would have made his day. Once I went to a fair and their was a girl, about 7 years old, balancing on a giant rubber ball, and playing the violin. Her father sat over to the side, watching lovingly as she made them their money...
