Well Paul and I have been busy having many adventures but I have been remiss in blogging about them. Now they are piling up so I am going to give one big update to get caught up.
STP
Paul rode in the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride last weekend with two brothers and a friend. This sounds like a nightmare to me but he had a great time doing it. They rode 140 miles the first day and 60 miles the second day. He did the race last year too and actually did better this year, so that was great. During the ride, they go through some pretty tiny little redneck towns. For the most part, people are supportive, some hanging out in front of their houses and encouraging the riders on. At one point, a beat up old truck pulled up to Paul and his friend and one of the rednecks yelled, "Get off the road you f-ing faggots!" IDIOTS! Paul said he would have been offended except that they were such a cliche (the whole package - the truck, the hair, the comment) that it was funny so they just started laughing.
Hotlanta
While Paul was finishing his STP ride, I was flying to Atlanta for a work conference. This conference is kind of a big deal and I was a little stressed leading up to it because I was doing two big presentations to a few hundred people. Luckily, I caught some comic relief at the airport and was able to relax. Thank you Atlanta for giving me one of the best mullets ever. Enjoy!
One other funny thing that happened in Atlanta is that I was having dinner with some of the people I work with. My team is worldwide so I only see them two or three times a year and when we get together we always stay out late dancing. This year, I was getting ready to head back to the hotel around 11 pm and I got so much flack from my friends and they all started going on and on about how my life is over now that I'm pregnant and all the ways that my life was going to change. The funniest thing about the whole situation is that I was sitting at this table of 7 guys from 5 countries on 4 continents and they were all telling the exact same stories about what happened when they had their first child. They were exactly the same! I guess some things are the same no matter where you live!
The Microsoft Picnic
Paul and I hit up the Microsoft picnic on Saturday and had a great time. There was so much good food there, we were really full after lunch. They also had a huge ramp with motorcyle riders doing tricks including 360's (flips). We spent most of our time in the "Teen Alley" so at least that part of me is the same. We did rock climbing, "mountain biking" (it was basically flat), and played tons of games. Afterwards we wandered over to the kids section to see what they were doing and it turns out they had a whole separate kids food stand with corn dogs and mac 'n' cheese! What could I do?? Those are my favorites!! So even though we were full, we still had some and the mac 'n' cheese was delicious. I guess what I learned from the experience was that I have the taste buds of a six-year-old and the social preferences of a 14-year-old. Is anyone surprised?
The Dark Knight
We saw this on Friday night and it was totally worth the hour and a half we spent waiting at the theater so we would have good seats. I'm sure all of you will see it so I won't say much more other than we both really liked it!

It is so shocking to me to see a mullet in 2008. People have been making fun of them for at least a decade. You'd think they would give in to the pressure sometime around, say, 2003.
And no, I'm not surprised that you have the same tastes of children and adolescents. I am pretty much the same way. Mac and cheese.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
