Elation and Heartbreak!!

On Saturday Paul and I went to the UW/BYU football game at Husky Stadium. Although UW was not my undergrad, I did get my MBA there and so I am Husky. Paul, as you may or may not know, is a Cougar. This made for a tense week leading up to the game. For the most part, we were both good sports about it but did openly support our respective teams on gameday. Because I am such a good wife, I went to the BYU tailgating party prior to the game with Paul. I definitely got some looks but no physical altercations occurred. Here's a shot of us at the tailgate party, our faces say a lot about what we were feeling:
We actually watched the game from the BYU alum section. I was the bright purple beach ball in the sea of blue and white. You may think Paul is mean for making me sit there but I will admit it was my decision. I weighed the pros and cons of me sitting in the BYU section in Husky regalia and Paul sitting in the Husky section in Cougar regalia. I decided a few "What the hecks" were easier to deal with than a beer bottle to the head and thus we ended up in the BYU section. Side note: can I just say, I love the setting of Husky stadium! Here's a picture of some of the view:
For most of the game we had a great time. It was a close game, very exciting and we were having fun:
Then came the tense last 11 seconds, that total CRAP call, and UW's heartbreaking loss (and BYU's subsequent victory). In addition there was about two hours of muttering, silent treatment, and dirty looks at Paul from me. As we were walking to the bus, a Husky fan spotted us and our opposing loyalties and says to Paul, "I guess you two won't be talking the rest of the day," to which Paul said, "Well she hasn't said anything yet," and the Husky fan turned to me and said, "Good for you."

Whether or not you agree with the call, the treatment of the game in the press, or anything else, it was a crazy day at Husky Stadium and it was a blast to be part of it.

As you know, Rob and I wore opposing shirts to the game as well. About halfway through the game he took my BYU sweatshirt and put it over his UW shirt. It was great. Everyone in our section was pleased that he finally started supporting the right team!

Hi, this is Kristalyn, I was in the same ward as Paul in the Colony and got this blog off of his facebook. I had fun reading through some of your posts and seeing what he has been up to. Your posts are very entertaining, I'm glad that I found your blog! :)
