This year was Paul's first Father's Day as a dad, so we took a cue from my extended birthday celebration and stretched out Father's Day a little. Some of the Friday activities below were combination Father's Day/birthday activities. One of these was the harbor cruise we took around Seattle. Here are a couple of shots from the boat:
On Saturday we went over to Silverdale and Paul caught up with some old friends from high school at a little get-together they had. It was fun to hear stories from Paul's past (which was disappointingly without controversy). On Sunday I told Paul he could have anything he wanted for dinner and he chose BBQ chicken, homemade mac 'n' cheese, and salad. He picked out a marinade from Williams Sonoma that was delicious! I used a recipe I found from Martha Stewart. It turned out delicious but I wouldn't say it's my favorite recipe. It did, however, reinforce my love of Gruyere cheese (and really, all cheese in general). There was a bittersweet element to Father's Day for us since both of our fathers have already passed away. But Paul was happy knowing he is a father that his dad would be proud of and I was happy knowing that I had chosen a father for Leah who my dad would love. I hope all you new, old, and soon-to-be fathers had a great day!

Apparently you forgot to ask Leah what she thought of the cruise but don't worry, like mother, like daughter she will speak her mind and let you know. I love the first picture with Paul holding her on the boat.
