For our second 4th of July in a row, we stayed in town and took advantage of the awesome celebration that goes on in the Bellevue Downtown Park which is about 1 block from our condo. They have food, live music, activities, and a C-17 flyover. Being close to home was nice because I could run home with Leah easily when needed and afterwards we were home in 10 minutes while everyone else was sitting in traffic. The highlight is after the sun goes down when the Bellevue Philharmonic performs a live concert synchronized to the fireworks. It was a great show as usual. Leah even got to enjoy the fireworks because of her new headphones that muffle the noise.
The best part of the day was listening to Paul sing patriotic songs to Leah. He sang her every song he could think of but he didn't know the words to any of them, except the Star Spangled Banner. This didn't stop him from singing loudly and with enthusiasm.
This was also the first year that we displayed a flag at our place. Paul mounted a bracket to our balcony and the flag hung out into our courtyard. It looked great! Paul showed his patriotism by hanging a flag. I showed mine by dressing up Leah in red, white, and blue. Both seemed to be pretty effective.
It was a great 4th of July and as always, we were happy to celebrate this great land we live in. Many times that day I thought of my brother, Hal, who is in the Army and has served two tours in Iraq. Thank you to him and all the other men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom!

Leah is such a cutie!!! She is sooo adorable!
Are those headphones for real? Ha ha! They're cute! We were so excited to hang a flag off of our patio for the first time, too! We felt so patriotic!
