Paul's Name Is Mud

On Saturday we went up to Bow, Washington for the annual Samish Bay Low Tide Mud Run and Bivalve Bash. It was a big festival held at an oyster farm. It was beautiful scenery and you can see the cute little lighthouse made out of shells in the picture. The main event was a "mud run" where adults tromp through mud on purpose and for fun (obviously, right?) The weather was great for the event and it was fun to see everyone getting ready. There were a handful of dedicated contenders but most everyone was just doing it for fun. There was even a whole wedding party there. The bride and groom had gotten married the night before and started out their honeymoon with the mud run. To each his own. Our friends, the Anderson's and the Black's, met up with us at the race. Joel, Paul and Erryn competed. You can see them in the picture looking confident before the race. They all made it out alive, albeit a bit muddy. Everyone hosed off and we headed to downtown Bellingham for an early dinner. Jake and Erryn's litte girl, Jaida, was a big fan of Leah's - you can see why in the picture. Paul has been trying to get me to commit to doing it next year but I think that Leah and are happy staying clean and cheering from the sidelines.
