At the end of January, we all took a trip out to visit my sister who lives in southern Pennsylvania. We spent about seven hours on planes each way. I was stressed out beyond the capacity for rational thought when thinking about how we were going to deal with Leah for all those hours when we can't even get her to sit still to eat dinner. We didn't get her a ticket either because she is still "lap infant" age, which is a totally inaccurate way to describe her. Still, we got really lucky and she was great both ways. Paul perfected a "clamp" hold wherein she would fall asleep quickly and slept quite a bit both ways. On all but one of the flights we had an extra seat as well which made a huge difference. I'm not lining up to fly with Leah again soon but it was not bad and definitely worth it to see the family.
In PA Leah had an awesome time getting to know her cousins and watching the rough-and-tumble ways of playing in a house of five boys. All the boys were very good about keeping an eye on her when she was headed for the stairs or other dangers, especially Aaron. Little Nate had to "serenade" Leah with his violin while she would eat her lunch. If he stopped playing she would scream. Luckily Nate knew a lot of songs and had a lot of patience. We had a blast with all the boys and had to go to about 518786414537 basketball games.
To show our appreciation, on one of our last nights there Paul took all the boys snow tubing. My sister, Leah, and I went to check it out for a bit and it was the first time Leah had been in snow. She thought it was pretty interesting but didn't seem to be fazed by it. Paul and the boys had a great time hooking their tubes together for runs. I'm surprised Paul didn't turn it into a merit badge of some kind.
Leah still looks at pictures of her cousins on the fridge and tries to kiss them so I think she misses all those boys spoiling her. Hopefully we will get to see them soon!
