So not only are the bathrooms clean and pleasant, they conserve water. I'm pretty sure that "Big Flush/Little Flush" will be replacing "#1/#2" in our vocabulary for talking to our kids. Anyway, nice job Germany, I wish you would give some lessons to U.S. gas stations, restaurants, and malls.

Have a Seat
Something I really enjoyed about Germany and Austria was their restrooms, or "water closets." Due to my present situation, I had occasion to use them in almost every location we visited. Granted, lots of times I had to pay half a Euro to use them, but they were always super clean and well-maintained, so totally worth it. One feature I enjoyed was something that I nicknamed, "Big Flush/Little Flush." Many of the toilets had a flush button that was divided into a big button and a smaller button for the just the reasons you would think. You can see an example below:

I agree! I love the big flush/little flush idea! The first time I saw this was in a public library in Massachusetts. I hate low flush toilets, but agree that sometimes a little less water is needed, so this is a perfect solution! I think Valerie is planning to have them installed in her new house.

As I always say while out on the lake, "The solution to pollution is dilution" and this just allows you to determine the pollution dilution ration on your own. I like it!
