For Memorial Day, Paul and I stayed close to home and enjoyed this ridiculously wonderful weather we have been having. On Friday evening we went down to the Kirkland waterfront, walked around and discussed which kinds of boats (that's right, plural) we want to own when we become millionaires.
On Saturday we took the bus and the monorail to the Seattle Center for the Folklife Festival, the official gathering of weirdos in Seattle. It was, as always, highly entertaining. Taking the bus was fantastic not only because we avoided traffic and parking but because Leah didn't have to be stuck in her carseat like she normally is when we go places. She is already a fan of public transportation. The pic is of her and Paul in front of the fountain at Westlake Center. We did see some fun stuff at the Festival including the Nordic dancers in this video:
And of course we made some bad food decisions - we couldn't resist the elephant ears.
Sunday after church we invited some friends over for a last minute BBQ. It was a great, relaxing evening with good friends. Monday we had our new nanny here so we went to see Star Trek, our first movie since Leah was born. I am rededicated to my extreme nerdiness. That movie blew my mind; I loved it! Live long and prosper.
Lastly, on Monday afternoon, Leah got to try out her new swimming suit. She LOVED swimming!! I think we will be hitting the pool quite a bit this summer. Here's a pic of her in the suit just before we left. All in all it was the perfect staycation, don't you think?
