Heart Day

Due to the proximity of Valentine's Day and our anniversary, Paul and I set up a tradition when we were married to keep Valentine's Day simple - we look for a great burger and exchange cards. This year we heard about Skillet Street Food, which is basically a mobile diner that parks all around the city. Since Valentine's Day was on a Sunday we found out where it would be on Saturday (Fremont) and tracked it down. Suffice it to say, we made the right choice. Their burger is grass fed beef, arugula, bacon jam and cambozola on a soft roll - delicious. The whole concept was really fun too. It was a good choice for Valentine's Day since I was in love with both Paul and the burger that day.

I wanted to do some decorating for Leah for Valentine's Day so I put up lots of paper hearts with stickers and got her a couple of Valentine's cards. Since she loves balloons, I sent Paul out to get some to tie to her chair. He came back with two plain pink balloons, one black balloon, and a breast cancer awareness balloon. I just burst out laughing. First of all, of all the Valentine's Day balloons, black/silver would be the last one I would choose. Still, it did say Valentine's Day with hearts. But I was curious about the last balloon so I asked, "What made you choose this one?" and Paul said, "Well, it has a ribbon on it and you are always putting bows in her hair." Turns out he didn't even know it was related to breast cancer. I just thought the whole balloon selection was hilarious because it really illustrated the difference between us. Of course, Leah LOVED all the balloons and so it all worked out great and we had a fun Valentine's Day together.

This picture of Leah is a perfect example of what I was talking about when I said that I see qualities of Aaron in her. And since he's your twin, she has plenty of Engstrom in her.
